INDEPENDENCE Elementary
The Independence schools provide highly-structured individualized educational programs to help prepare students to function as competent, self-reliant adults. The schools serve students grades K-12 with disabilities, primarily those who are impacted by poor self-regulation and behavior problems. School-wide Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) along with level systems of rewards, Restorative Justice and Social Skills training support these efforts. Instruction is supported by technology, with students using digital text books, personalized, supplementary computer based instruction, and individual computer devices.
